ProQuest Acquires Serials Solutions,
BCR 20 Percent Discount Continues
By Rosario Garza
Serials Solutions officials have announced the company has been acquired by ProQuest
Information and Learning. According to the announcement, the primary effect of
ProQuest's acquisition will be to give Serials Solutions additional resources to grow.
These resources will be used to develop tools and services librarians are asking for and to
stay responsive to an ever-growing base of libraries. The Serials Solutions founders and
staff have assured BCR that member libraries that subscribe to any Serials Solutions
service will continue to receive their 20 percent discount through BCR.
Serials Solutions staff and operations will continue relatively unchanged, and the points
of contact many of you are familiar with will remain the same. Please continue to call
your regular service and sales representatives for your customer service and technical
support needs. We have been assured that no positions are being eliminated as a result of
this acquisition.
ProQuest officials say they remain committed to Serials Solutions' tradition of excellence
in service and product quality, as well as to maintaining a role as intermediary between
libraries and content providers. ProQuest will manage Serials Solutions as a separate
business unit. The existing Serials Solutions' management team, along with the entire
product support, product development, sales and technology staff will remain in Seattle.
If you have any questions or concerns about the acquisition of Serials Solutions by
ProQuest, contact either Rosario Garza (rgarza@bcr.org) at BCR or your regular Serials
Solutions sales representative.
