Grolier Renewal Cycle to Begin in MarchBy Laura ChittivejLibraries that subscribe to Grolier Online databases through BCR should plan to renew their subscriptions before the April 30 deadline. Timely renewal orders will ensure that libraries have uninterrupted access for users. New subscribers also are encouraged to enroll at this time. New and current subscribers may choose from two base packages and an array of add-on modules. Subscribers may choose a Combo Package of any two of the three encyclopedias or a Deluxe Package with all three of the encyclopedias: Grolier Multimedia Encyclopedia, Encyclopedia Americana and The New Book of Knowledge. Add-on titles are Nueva Enciclopedia Cumbre en L¡nea, Lands and People Online and The New Book of Popular Science. Two new modules were introduced last fall. Encyclopedia of American Studies and Columbia American History Online are available, as add-on modules, to both new and current subscribers. Published under the sponsorship of the American Studies Association and written for high school and college students, the Encyclopedia of American Studies incorporates American history, literature and many other disciplines in a cultural study of the American experience. BCR and Grolier are also pleased to offer an ADA-compliant version of Encyclopedia of American Studies. Columbia American History Online is an interactive, Web-based resource developed by faculty and staff at Columbia University. It combines e-seminars, taught by distinguished Columbia faculty, with original historic documents, thought-provoking questions, classroom simulations recreating historic periods, interactive maps, audio slide shows and more. At press time, BCR had not yet received Grolier Online pricing for next year. Information on pricing and how to obtain a free two-month trial will be available in the next issue of Action for Libraries.
