Member NewsJo Ann Schindler, acting state librarian in Hawaii since June, has been named the new state librarian of the Hawaii State Public Library System. Liz Bishoff, director of the Colorado Digitization Program (CDP), was appointed vice president of OCLC Digital Collections and Preservation Services. Nancy Allen, dean, University of Denver Penrose Library and CDP Board chair, is now the interim CDP director. Donna Jones Morris has been appointed the new state librarian for Utah. Bozeman (Montana) Public Library is one of three libraries receiving the National Award for Library Service, the nation's highest honor for community service, from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Katherine Von Wald, coordinator of the Iowa Center for the Book, is Iowa Library Association Member of the Year. June Pinnell Stephens, Fairbanks North Star Borough (Alaska) Library, has received the 2003 prestigious Robert B. Downs Intellectual Freedom Award from the University of Illinois, Champaign Urbana, School of Library and Information Science. Eloise May, director of the Arapahoe (Colorado) Library District, was honored with the Career Achievement Award by the Colorado Association of Libraries. Richard Lee and the staff of the Pueblo City-County Library District received CAL's Colorado Librarian of the Year award. Donna Jones Morris, then of the Arkansas Valley Regional Library Service System, was honored for her Distinguished Service.
