Nominations Now Being Accepted
for BCR Spring Election Slates
By Joyce Hillshafer
Lesley Boughton, president of the BCR Board of Trustees, has appointed Mary Wegner, state librarian of Iowa
and a member of the BCR Board of Trustees, to chair the BCR Nominating Committee for 2004. Other
members of the nominating committee are being appointed to the five-member committee from the BCR member
states of Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. According to Board policy, non-Board members are
appointed to the Nominating Committee each year from four of BCR's 12 member states, assigned alphabetically
on a rotating basis.
Nominations for the single opening for the BCR OCLC Members Council delegate election are being accepted
until January 23, 2004. Any BCR/OCLC general member may nominate a candidate for the committee's
consideration for the delegate slate by submitting a petition with the signature of one official voting representative
and the written permission of the potential nominee. The petition form is available at
www.bcr.org/about/mc/petition.html. You may fax the petition to BCR at (303) 751-9787.
The BCR Nominating Committee also will develop a slate of candidates for the spring trustee election.
Suggestions are being accepted for the four positions open on the BCR Board of Trustees, those of Emily Navarre,
at-large trustee; David Ellefsen, public libraries trustee; Henry Yaple, academic libraries trustee; and Stephen
Rollins, research libraries trustee.
Contact BCR's Joyce Hillshafer (jhillsha@bcr.org) if you would like to volunteer for consideration for the Board of
Trustees slate. She will forward the information to the nominating committee.
BCR members also may nominate a write-in candidate for the BCR Board, who will automatically be added to the
election slate. Send the written permission of the nominee plus signatures of 10 voting BCR members to BCR.
Contact Hillshafer for a write-in nomination form, which may be faxed to (303) 751-9787.
