Serials Solutions Adds Overlap
Analysis to Service Lineup
By Rosario Garza
Serials Solutions has released a new acquisition tool — Overlap Analysis — that is included
at no additional cost with a subscription to any Serials Solutions service. If you are
currently a Serials Solutions subscriber, this new service is already available to you.
This interactive tool generates statistical reports showing, for each database in your
library's collection, the number of journals in the database unique to that database. It
also shows the number available elsewhere in your collection, so you can evaluate the
effects of adding new databases to your collection.
With Overlap Analysis, you can compare database subscriptions. The reports will tell
you how many unique titles are in the databases being compared and how many titles are
in more than one database. For each title that is in multiple databases, you can see what
dates are covered for each overlapping title in each database. You also can see the
percentage of unique titles in each of the databases.
A demonstration of this new service is available at
www.serialssolutions.com/overlap.asp.
Flash is required to view the demo.
This new tool is now available with a subscription to any of Serials Solutions' services:
E-Journal Access & Management Suite (A.M.S.), Full MARC Records or Article Linker.
Remember, BCR member libraries receive a 20 percent discount when subscribing to any
Serials Solutions service. The E-Journal A.M.S. is included with subscriptions to either
Full MARC Records or Article Linker. Additional discounts may be available for
multiyear subscriptions.
If you have any questions or comments regarding this new service enhancement, please
send an e-mail message to Serials Solutions at info@serialssolutions.com or call (866)
