Renewal Deadlines for BCR Database Products
Subscription deadlines for two of the most popular reference database products offered at a discount through BCR are coming up. Free trials are offered on almost all databases, so log on and see which would be most valuable for your library.

  • Britannica Online — Available through the end of May, BCR's free trial offers access to all Britannica Online titles including the recently added Original Sources. To request trial access, please go to: www.bcr.org/reference/Britannica/Britannica-Trial-Form.html. Subscription access to Britannica's Original Sources is currently available to academic, government and nonprofit institutions.

May 31 is also the expiration for the 2003-2004 BCR Britannica Online group subscription. Current subscribers are encouraged to submit their renewals as soon as possible. In order to facilitate budget planning by our member libraries, BCR does not allow publishers to automatically renew subscriptions. Please submit a BCR Web order/renewal form in order to continue access. Go to www.bcr.org/reference/Britannica/Britannica-Form.html to access the order/renewal form. For additional information, please contact BCR's Laura Chittivej (lchittiv@bcr.org).

  • McGraw-Hill AccessScience — The annual renewal/sign-up period for all BCR McGraw-Hill subscriptions ends on June 30. If you haven't already renewed your subscription, contact Karen Graham at BCR (kgraham@bcr.org).

New participants will benefit from BCR's group contract pricing. If you would like to subscribe to any of the AccessScience database products, you can use the BCR Web order form to calculate your costs without requiring you to submit an order. All new subscribers or transfers from direct McGraw-Hill accounts also must complete a Web order form. Go to www.bcr.org/reference/Mcgraw/AccSciFAQ.html to access the order form. For questions or additional information, contact Karen Graham (kgraham@bcr.org).

OCLC FirstSearch InternetPCAbs Discontinued
Following its acquisition of the Internet and Personal Computing Abstracts (InternetPCAbs) databases, EBSCO has informed OCLC of its intention to terminate the contract to distribute the database on FirstSearch. Per-search access to the InternetPCAbs database will be discontinued Tuesday, June 15. New orders are no longer being accepted, and remaining subscription access ends July 1.

As possible alternatives to indexed and full-text articles on information technology issues and products, users of the InternetPCAbs database might consider Article First, Applied Science & Technology Abstracts, Consumers Index, Wilson Select Plus and Periodicals Abstracts.

For more information, contact Karen Graham (kgraham@bcr.org) or Ann Schwab (aschwab@bcr.org) at BCR.
