ANB Online Adds New Features
Oxford University Press (OUP) has enhanced its popular American National Biography Online by adding a
Research Ideas section that provides users with preselected lists of articles in 12 topics, including the Civil
War, World War II, American Literature, the Depression, the New Deal and more. Teachers can use this
new feature to tie ANB Online directly to their curriculum, and students are provided with a quick and easy
way into the database.
In addition, a new Teacher's Guide to Using ANB Online has been added, providing teachers with six
lessons on how to incorporate ANB into the classroom. The lessons highlight the various features of the
site — cross-references, illustrations and additional resources. For more information, see
www.anb.org/articles/themes/themes.html and www.anb.org/teachguide.html. BCR's Karen Graham
(kgraham@bcr.org) can assist with subscription and pricing questions.
