Kathie Mora, Great Falls Public Library, was awarded the 2004 BiblioTechie of the Year award by Offline, the Montana Library Association Technology Conference.

Terry Rohe is serving as interim university librarian at Portland State University.

A grand opening celebrated the Seattle (Washington) Public Library's new Central Library, which benefited from a $3 million gift from the Charles Simonyi Fund for Arts and Sciences to help build the new facility. Seattle Public Library also reopened its newly renovated Green Lake and West Seattle branches, two of its six Carnegie libraries.

LeClaire (Iowa) Community Library opened July 1.

Jon Walker was named executive director of the Pueblo (Colorado) City-County Library District.

Deborah Duckwall is the new director of the Abilene (Kansas) Public Library.

Boise (Idaho) Public Library welcomed a new executive director, Stephen Cottrell.

Iowa City (Iowa) held grand opening celebration activities in July for its newly renovated and expanded Iowa City Public Library.

Adams County (Colorado) Library District has been renamed the Rangeview Library District.
