LexisNexis Academic Adds Leading Newspapers
LexisNexis Academic recently added the full text of several McClatchy newspapers to its growing stable of
sources. The McClatchy Company was founded 147 years ago and publishes newspapers all across the
country. Among its many honors are 12 Pulitzer Prizes, three of which were gold medals for public service.
The newspapers added to LexisNexis Academic include:
- The Star Tribune — out of Minneapolis-St. Paul and McClatchy's highest circulating newspaper.
(Coverage from September 1, 1991 - present)
- The Sacramento Bee — McClatchy's oldest newspaper, founded in 1857 during the Gold Rush.
(Coverage from January 1, 2002 - present)
- Anchorage Daily News — the leading newspaper in Alaska, delivered by regular carrier, mail, boat,
plane, snowmobile and the occasional dog sled. (Coverage from January 1, 1995 - present)
LexisNexis Environmental Expands
LexisNexis Environmental added 19,493 abstracts in 2004, many of which link to full text articles from
scientific journals, government reports and Environmental Protection Agency documents. The LexisNexis
Environmental database now totals 446,559 indexed abstracts dating back to 1975.
For example, the EPA's Brownfields Initiative seeks to assess, clean up and redevelop urban properties that
have been abandoned due to the presence, or perceived presence, of environmental contaminants.
LexisNexis Environmental added more than 500 Brownfields reports in 2004. They are available in full
text and provide information related to site descriptions, funding amounts granted, actions taken and
potential future initiatives.
