Nominating Committee Named
For BCR Spring Election Slates

By Joyce Hillshafer
Stephen Rollins, president of the BCR Board of Trustees, has appointed Brenda Bailey-Hainer, alternate from the Colorado State Library on the BCR Board of Trustees, to chair the BCR Nominating Committee for 2005. Other members of the nominating committee are Robin Hanson, University of Alaska - Anchorage; Rita Hug, University of Colorado, Colorado Springs; Karen Ganske, Nampa (Idaho) Public Library; and Marilyn Mercado, University of Northern Iowa. By Board policy, non-Board members are appointed to the annual Nominating Committee from four of BCR's 11 member states, assigned alphabetically on a rotating basis.

Nominations for the single opening for the BCR OCLC Members Council delegate election are being accepted until January 24. Any BCR/OCLC general member may nominate a candidate for the committee's consideration for the delegate slate by submitting a petition with the signature of one official voting representative and the written permission of the potential nominee. The petition form is available at www.bcr.org/about/mc/mcelect.html. You may fax the signed petition to BCR at (303) 751-9787. The delegate position currently held by Greg Cotton is open this year. Cotton is eligible for reelection.

The BCR Nominating Committee also will develop a slate of candidates for the spring trustee election. Suggestions are being accepted for the four positions open on the BCR Board of Trustees, those of Cynthia Berner-Harris and Sandra Barstow, at-large trustees; Melisa Nicoud, special libraries trustee; and Teresa Garrison, school libraries trustee. All are eligible for reelection except Berner-Harris, who has served two terms on the Board.

Contact Bailey-Hainer, committee chair, (bailey_b@cde.state.co.us) or BCR's Joyce Hillshafer (jhillsha@bcr.org) if you would like to volunteer for consideration for the Board of Trustees slate. BCR members also may nominate a write-in candidate for the BCR Board, who will automatically be added to the election slate. Send the written permission of the nominee plus signatures of 10 voting BCR members to BCR. Contact Hillshafer for a write-in nomination form, which may be faxed to (303) 751-9787.
