BCR and Wilson Offer Art Museum Image Gallery
With the demise of the AMICO Library database in July, H.W. Wilson is now offering the Art Museum
Image Gallery database to BCR WilsonWeb subscribers. Similar to the AMICO Library database, the
Museum Image Gallery provides users with a digital resource of art images and related multimedia gathered
from the collections of museums around the world. The new database can be searched seamlessly with
other Wilson art resources, such as Art Full Text and Art Index Retrospective.
Art Museum Image Gallery features more than 94,000 high-quality, high-resolution images, spanning
artistic creation from early antiquity to the present. A description accompanies each entry, as well as
curatorial text, provenance data, detail or multiple views and, for many works, related multimedia. To see a
complete list of features on the database, go to
www.hwwilson.com/databases/artmuseum.htm. For more
information on subscriptions and pricing, contact BCR's Karen Graham (kgraham@bcr.org).
OCLC Provides Search Tools on Open WorldCat
The Open WorldCat Web site now includes information about tools that provide another way to search for
library materials from a PC desktop. Each of the following search engines adds a toolbar to the browser
window, enabling users to type in their search terms. Users get wider access to online catalogs and other
Web-based resources.
- Yahoo! Toolbar — this special edition on the Yahoo! Toolbar provides always-there access to Open
WorldCat records via Yahoo! Search, plus the full complement of Yahoo! services.
- Google Toolbar with Autolink feature — The newest version of Google Toolbar enables always-
there access to Open WorldCat records through its Autolink feature. Autolink detects the presence
of specific kinds of information on the current Web page and, by pressing the Autolink button on
the Toolbar, links to related or look-up information for that item.
- Firefox search extensions — Add WorldCat searching to the Search Bar of the popular open-
source Web browser Firefox. From an ever-present browser pane, you can enter your search terms
and select the search engine to be queried.
For more information about these tools or to download them, visit
