New Alaska Acting State Librarian Named

Kathryn (Kay) Shelton, chief librarian at the Alaska State Historical Library, has been named acting director of the state's Division of Libraries, Archives and Museums. She replaces George Smith, who retired as acting state librarian February 1, to move to Washington, D.C., where he is now serving in the Office of Library Services at the Institute of Museum and Library Services. A search for a permanent division director is scheduled to begin in the spring.

As part of her new duties, Shelton will also serve on the BCR Board of Trustees as the state library trustee from Alaska.
