BCR Staff Active at State Library Conferences

By Brandie Baumann
Four state library conferences are being held in April and May, and BCR staff are planning activities at each of them.

Ellen Fox, BCR's R&D manager, will be attending the Oregon Library Association, April 6-8, in Portland. She is one of five panelists participating in the conference session, "Library Training in the New Millennium: Continuing Education Opportunities in the Pacific Northwest." Come learn about the many continuing education opportunities available to library staff in the Northwest. Make sure to visit Fox at the BCR booth and pick up information on BCR services.

At the Washington Library Association conference in Spokane, April 20-23, Rosario Garza, BCR's assistant director for Member Services, will be on hand in the BCR exhibit booth. Librarians are encouraged to visit and talk with Garza about the many services BCR offers, including discounts on supplies, reference databases and training.

Next on the schedule is the Montana Library Association conference, being held in Billings, April 23-26. Lisa Holmberg, R&D project coordinator, will be available in the BCR booth to answer questions and provide information for Montana's librarians.

Garza is also scheduled to attend the Utah Library Association conference set for May 11-13, at the Eccles Conference Center in Ogden. She will be presenting two programs during the conference. "Reference, Resource Sharing & FRBR: Why Should I Care?" will give librarians information about the pros and cons of the FRBR model. And all Utah librarians will find Garza's second presentation, the "BCR Update," a useful forum for discovering the latest in what is happening with the many services available through BCR. When Garza isn't busy elsewhere, she will be available in the BCR exhibit booth to chat and answer your questions.

Don't forget that Garza will also be presenting two programs and staffing the exhibit booth at the Kansas Tri-Conference, scheduled for March 30-April 1, in Overland Park, Kansas.

Remember, all libraries in each of BCR's 11 member states (Alaska, Colorado, Kansas, Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming) are BCR members. Come visit BCR staff at your annual library association conference and discover how libraries in your state can benefit from BCR services.
