Grove Art Online Enriches Images Display
Grove Art Online can now display images in position in the text of an article, enabling students,
researchers, librarians and scholars to view works of art while reading about them. More than 1,500 high-
quality images and line drawings from Art Resource and the print edition of The Dictionary of Art can be
viewed as thumbnail images within an article and then can be enlarged to provide complete caption
information. For a list of illustrated articles, go to
www.groveart.com/grove-owned/art/illustrations.html

OUP Updates Online Products
Oxford University Press has implemented two new updates to OED Online (Oxford English Dictionary)
that include expanded vocabulary entries and a new feature that allows users to look up words using their
browsers.
- More than 150 new words and phrases have been added to OED Online, including such oddities as
helmet hair, scrunchie and hog heaven. Explore the list of new entries at
www.oed.com/help/latest.htm.
- Users can now look up words in OED Online direct from other Web sites. This feature takes just
seconds to set up. Go to
dictionary.oed.com/services/browser-button.html for details.
In addition, updates have been completed for the American National Biography Online (ANB) and Oxford
Reference Online: Premium Collection (OROP). Twenty-eight new articles were added to ANB online,
representing a broad spectrum of activities and achievements, from musical performers Ray Charles and
jazz great, Lionel Hampton, to stage and screen personalities such as Katherine Hepburn, to important
persons in business and academic circles. For a list of new entries, go to
www.anb.org/update.html.
The OROP update also includes a new title, A Dictionary of Modern Design, an additional 4,000-plus color
illustrations from the Visual English Dictionary, new Timeline themes and new search functionality. The
Visual English Dictionary now has more than 6,000 illustrations, and the new fully searchable captions
provide quick access to a wide range of topics. The addition of A Dictionary of Modern Design affords
users 150 years of international design, including entries on ceramics, furniture, graphics, industrial design,
interiors, fashion and more. A new issue of The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations has been published, and
new timelines for painting and American Presidents have been added. Icons now appear in search results
which contain maps, illustrations and timeline links, and a new "Maps and Illustrations" category tab
allows users to reorder their search results.
