Special Discounts to CQ Press Subscriptions
CQ Press is offering special discounts to BCR member libraries, in coordination with BCR's CQ Electronic
Library subscription renewal period. (Renewal/order deadline is November 15.) Community college
libraries and public libraries now have a special opportunity to order these American government databases,
while academic libraries may purchase some CQ databases as a package at substantial savings.
- Academic libraries may purchase CQ Voting & Elections, CQ Congress Collection and CQ
Supreme Court Collection as a package at a savings of at least $2,499 less than BCR's regular
discount prices.
- Community colleges and public libraries can now subscribe to CQ Researcher (1991 to present)
and CQ Weekly through a special opportunity to purchase perpetual rights (PEOR) to these two
databases at a substantial discount. This pricing will continue only through the end of 2005 since
PEOR ownership rights will likely be discontinued in favor of a new deep-back-file option.
The BCR discounted group subscription to CQ Electronic Library and CQ Government Directories runs
December 1, 2005, through November 30, 2006. The renewal deadline is November 15. Make sure your
library patrons receive continuous access by submitting the online renewal/order form (located at
www.bcr.org/reference/cqpress/) to BCR by November 15. If you need additional information, contact Lisa
Holmberg (lholmber@bcr.org) at BCR.
Ovid Technologies News
The American Mathematical Society's MathSci database, already available on SilverPlatter, is now live on
the Ovid Web Gateway. Consisting of Mathematical Reviews and Current Mathematical Publications
(CMP), MathSci includes signed reviews and bibliographic data from journals dating from 1940 to the
present. Reviews of journals, conference proceedings and books of mathematical research are included.
CMP is a subject index of data for recent and forthcoming publications. Full biblio- graphic information is
included in the database.
Social Work Abstracts has been reloaded on both the Ovid and SilverPlatter platforms. The new version
offers a number of new fields, including:
Browsable Author
Index Book Source (publisher information for book and chapter records)
Document Type
Editor
SBN for book and chapter records
Journal Name Index
Series Title
These changes should improve searching and browsing capabilities for customers. For more information
concerning new and existing fields, please reference the database guides on Ovid's Web site
(www.ovid.com).
As announced earlier in the year, Ovid has licensed four society nursing journals from Elsevier. These
journals include Archives of Psychiatric Nursing, Journal of Nurses in AIDS Care, Journal of
PeriAnesthesia Nursing and Pain Management Nursing. This brings to 67 the number of nursing journals
now available on Ovid and represents a unique collection of titles from multiple society and commercial
publishers.
For more information on any of the Ovid or SilverPlatter database products, contact Karen Graham
(kgraham@bcr.org) at BCR.
