OCLC Update
By Regan W. Harper
Connexion Client 1.4 Label Patch Issued
A software patch is now available from the OCLC Web site that addresses some of the label printing
problems with Connexion client 1.40. Some library staff reported they could not upgrade to client 1.40 until
these problems were addressed, so OCLC issued a special software patch. See the Labels section of the
Connexion client known problems document at
www.oclc.org/connexion/support/client_known_problems.htm
for a list of problems resolved and to download the
software patch. Note that not all label printing problems are resolved with this patch. Additional label
changes will be included in client 1.50 in November. If you currently use client 1.40, you can install the
patch as instructed in known problems. If you use client 1.30, first upgrade to client 1.40 and then install
the patch.
Language Script Macros Available
Do you catalog materials with the Cyrillic, Greek or Hebrew scripts? With Connexion client 1.40, you can
now catalog using these scripts in WorldCat. See
www.oclc.org/connexion/interface/client/enhancements/recent.htm
for more information and to download the 1.40 software. Joel Hahn, Niles (IL) Public Library
District, has created transliteration macros to help with cataloging in these scripts. See
users.rcn.com/aardy/oml/connex.html
to download Hahn's transliteration macro book, which includes
macros to convert Cyrillic to Latin, Latin to Cyrillic, Greek to Latin, Latin to Greek, Hebrew to Latin and
Latin to Hebrew.
