Join BCR at Your Annual Library Conference

By Brandie Baumann
BCR staff have a busy fall season ahead with five conferences scheduled this fall. Please come visit BCR staff members at both BCR's exhibit booth and at presentations they will be providing at each conference.

Idaho
Lisa Holmberg, R&D project coordinator for BCR, will attend the Idaho Library Association conference in Pocatello, October 4-8. In addition to staffing the BCR exhibit booth, she will present "Tech Support on the Fly" Thursday, October 5, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Holmberg will offer tips on dealing with printer, computer and other problems that crop up when the public uses your library's computers. BCR is also pleased to co-sponsor the keynote speaker, Nancy Pearl.

Wyoming
Rosario Garza, assistant director for Member Services, will represent BCR at the joint MPLA/Wyoming annual library conference being held this year in Jackson, October 12-15. She will present her well- received program, "Reference, Resource Sharing & FRBR: Why You Should Care," on Friday, October 14, from 10-10:50 a.m. Developed with a focus on the needs of users and against the backdrop of current information technology, FRBR promises to make your bibliographic database easier to search and navigate. Come find out how FRBR may affect your library's reference and resource sharing staff.

Iowa
Regan Harper, Member Services project manager at BCR, is scheduled to attend the Iowa Library Association annual conference, October 19-21, in Dubuque. Harper is bringing the ever-popular BCR Update to Iowa librarians on Friday, October 21, from 11:20 a.m. to 12:10 p.m. Join her to learn the latest news in library information technology, including what's happening on the Internet, what new reference services are available and the latest news in library-related hardware and software. For library staff interested in digitization topics, the Collaborative Digitization Program (CDP) has scheduled a preconference workshop on Wednesday, October 19, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. CDP and BCR have a joint agreement to offer workshops on digitization to BCR member libraries. Visit www.bcr.org/training/workshops/CDP-workshops.html to find more digitization workshops being offered and how to bring them to your library or area.

Nevada
Ellen Fox, BCR's R&D manager, will be in attendance at the Nevada Library Association conference, October 20-22, in Reno. She will present "Wikis, Blogs and Your Library" on Friday, October 21, at 1:30 p.m. Wikis and blogs are collaborative creation tools that can be put to good use in your library. Learn about these exciting new technologies and see how other libraries have made use of them. Make sure you visit her at the BCR exhibit booth.

Colorado
