BCR and CQ Offer Special Discounts
to CQ Electronic Library Subscriptions

By Lisa Holmberg
It's nearing renewal time for CQ Electronic Library subscriptions. Created and hosted by CQ Press, the CQ Electronic Library (CQEL) is an authoritative reference resource for research in American government, politics, history, public policy and current affairs. It also offers researchers — students, scholars, professionals or interested citizens — a range of tools for discovering, understanding and making use of its content.

In coordination with the CQ subscription renewal period, CQ is offering special discounts to BCR member libraries. Academic libraries have the opportunity to purchase CQ Voting & Elections, CQ Congress Collection and CQ Supreme Court Collection databases as a package at a savings of at least $2,499 less than BCR's regular prices.

Community college libraries and public libraries, which previously could not subscribe to CQ databases with perpetual electronic ownership rights, now have a special opportunity to purchase perpetual rights to CQ Researcher (1991 to present) and CQ Weekly. We at BCR believe we have obtained some of the best pricing in the United States for these databases for BCR member libraries.

This special pricing for CQ databases, however, is available only through the end of 2005.

CQ Press is developing a new deep-back file option for CQ Researcher in 2006. Sales of the current version of CQ Researcher perpetual electronic ownership rights will likely be discontinued in favor of the new deep-back-file option. Libraries interested in purchasing the less expensive perpetual rights to CQ Researcher (1991 to present) will need to act in 2005.

The BCR discounted group subscription to CQ Electronic Library and CQ Government Directories runs December 1, 2005, through November 30, 2006. The renewal/order deadline is November 15.

To ensure that your library patrons receive continuous access to these databases, please make sure your renewal is submitted to BCR by November 15. The online renewal/order form is found on BCR's Web site at www.bcr.org/reference/cqpress/.
