Honors and Achievements
Congratulations to Monica Martens and David Selden of the National Indian Law Library (Colorado). They received the Public Access to Government Information Award from the American Association of Law Libraries for their work in making tribal law available to the public.
Andrea R. Lapsley, director of development for libraries at Colorado State University, has been named president of the Library Administration and Management Association for 2006.
Eugene Hainer, Colorado's state librarian, has been named to the regional advisory board of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine.
Jefferson County (Colorado) Public Library was named a Webby Official Honoree by the International Academy of Digital Arts. The honor recognized the library's Web site, which was designed internally and is managed by library staff.
For the fourth year, Multnomah County (Oregon) Library in 2005 ranked first among the nation's public libraries in circulation. The ranking was reported in the Public Library Association's Statistical Report 2006.
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Institute of Museum and Library Services awarded Johnson County (Kansas) Library a $249,900 grant for Science INC (Inspiring Natural Curiosity), a joint project with Kansas City Public Television, Science City at Union Station, Science Pioneers and Pathfinder Science.
People on the Move
The Board of Trustees of the Southeastern (Iowa) Library Services named Kim Kietzman as administrator, replacing Emily Navarre, who retired. Wanda Gardner replaced Kietzman as director of the LeClaire Community Library.
Debbie Cramer has been named the new executive director of the Montana Library Association.
Staff at the Dodge City Public Library welcomed Cathy Reeves as that library's new director.
Ross Callendar has joined the Colorado Library Consortium (CLiC) as Northwest Regional consultant. Callendar is based in the Grand Junction area.
Patti Butcher has returned to Kansas. On November 1, she joined the staff at the State Library of Kansas as director of Statewide Resource Sharing.
Robert Grover, dean of graduate studies at Emporia State University (Kansas), has taken on additional duty of interim dean of the School of Library and Information Management (SLIM).
