Small School, Public Libraries Benefit from BCR Discounts on SIRS, ProQuest Databases
By Lisa Holmberg
BCR offers a number of resources for K-12 schools and media centers through BCR's discounted group contracts. Though these databases are available to public and academic libraries as well, their value to school libraries and media centers merits special mention.
SIRS Databases
The SIRS databases, including SIRS Researcher, Government Reporter, Renaissance, WebSelect, Discoverer and Discoverer WebFind provide relevant, credible information on social issues, science, history, government, the arts and humanities. Go in-depth into nearly 100 leading pro/con issues or explore thousands of topical issues in eight major subject areas. Updated daily, full-text articles and Internet resources are carefully selected from thousands of domestic and international publications and respected organizations.
BCR is currently offering steep discounts on SIRS databases for school libraries with fewer than 300 students (and public libraries serving populations of fewer than 7,500). For these small libraries, a subscription to SIRS Researcher is only $340. If you are interested in purchasing any of the SIRS databases, please visit BCR's SIRS information page.
CultureGrams Online
The ProQuest database, CultureGrams Online, offers country reports that deliver an insider's perspective on daily life and culture, including the background, customs and lifestyles of the world's people. Individual reports covering 187 countries and all 50 United States are written and reviewed by in-country experts and are updated every year, so you can be sure you're offering only the very best information to staff and students.
BCR offers special pricing for K-12 schools and media centers, in addition to pricing for hospital libraries, community colleges and public libraries. If you are interested in purchasing CultureGrams Online, visit BCR's CultureGrams information page for pricing and order information.
BCR is currently offering a free trial of these databases and other ProQuest resources. If you would like more information about the ProQuest resources BCR offers, please contact Lisa Holmberg.
