Nominating Committee Named,
Nominations Being Accepted

By Joyce Hillshafer
BCR Board President Stephen Rollins has appointed Sandra Barstow, assistant dean of administration and finance at the University of Wyoming Libraries and an at-large member of the BCR Board of Trustees, to chair the BCR Nominating Committee for 2006. Others appointed to the nominating committee are Karen Starr, assistant administrator for Library and Archives Development at the Nevada State Library and Archives; Jeff Hixon, director of the Library Information Technology Division at the Kansas State Library; Bruce Newell, Montana Library Network director, Montana State Library; and Carolyn Rawles- Heiser, Corvallis-Benton (Oregon) County Library. By Board policy, non-Board members are appointed to the Nominating Committee each year from four of BCR's 11 member states on a rotating basis.

OCLC Members Council Election
Any BCR/OCLC general member may suggest a candidate for the nominating committee's consideration for BCR's OCLC Members Council delegate position by submitting the signature of one official voting representative and the written permission of the potential nominee. The delegate position currently held by Maggie Farrell, University of Wyoming, is opening this year.

Petitions to nominate candidates must be received at BCR's Aurora office no later than Friday, January 27, 2006. You will find the petition form at www.bcr.org/about/mc/mcelect.html and can fax the signed form to BCR at (303) 751-9787.

BCR Board of Trustees Election
The nominating committee also will develop a slate of candidates for the spring trustee election. Contact BCR's Joyce Hillshafer (jhillsha@bcr.org) if you would like to volunteer for consideration for the Board of Trustees slate. She will pass the information on to the nominating committee. The election this year will select a research libraries trustee, public libraries trustee, academic libraries trustee and one at-large trustee for the BCR Board. Information about the Board election can be found at www.bcr.org/about/board/botelect.html.

Any 10 BCR members also may assure that a write-in candidate for the BCR Board is automatically added to the election slate. To do this, send the written permission of the nominee and the signatures of 10 voting BCR members to BCR before February 16. Contact Hillshafer at jhillsha@bcr.org for a write-in nomination form. Once completed, nomination forms may also be faxed to (303) 751-9787.
