Farrell, Newell Elected to OCLC Board
Two individuals from BCR member libraries were elected to the OCLC Board of Trustees last month. Maggie Farrell, dean of libraries at the University of Wyoming, and Bruce Newell, Montana Library Network director, Montana State Library, were honored by their colleagues on OCLC Members Council with their votes. Farrell, president of Members Council this past year, is ending her second and final term as a BCR delegate to Members Council. Newell is a member of the BCR Board of Trustees as the alternate representative from the Montana State Library.

Denver Public Library Announces New City Librarian
The Denver Public Library Commission has named Shirley C. Amore to direct Colorado's largest library system. She is Denver's first female city librarian, replacing Rick Ashton who left in February after 20 years at the library's helm.

That Which We Call a Rose
...by any other name will assist libraries as well as before. As of July 1, the Idaho State Library will have a new name the Idaho Commission for Libraries. The name change reflects the Idaho Commission for Libraries' mission, said State Librarian Ann Joslin, assisting libraries "to build the capacity to better serve their clientele."

OLA Names Two Librarians of the Year
Caleb Tucker-Raymond, project coordinator of L-net, and Marie Baldo, director, Hermiston Public Library, have been honored by the Oregon Library Association as its 2006 Librarians of the Year.

Tucker-Raymond was hired three years ago to coordinate L-net, Oregon's statewide virtual reference service. He built L-net into a 24/7 digital reference. Baldo was lauded for her impact on Oregon's eastern libraries and for revitalizing adult and children's services at Umatilla City.
