BioOne and BCR Partner to Offer BioScience Journals Online
By Laura Chittivej
BCR is pleased to announce a partnership with BioOne, an innovative nonprofit collaboration of the American Institute of Biological Sciences (AIBS), Scholarly Publishing & Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC), University of Kansas, Greater Western Library Alliance and
Allen Press, Inc. The result is a unique Web-accessible database aggregation of more than 80 high-impact bioscience research journals, many of them full text. BioOne provides integrated,
cost-effective access to a thoroughly linked information resource of interrelated journals focused on the biological, ecological and environmental sciences. BCR has obtained access to BioOne
from Amigos, a sister library network, which is a strategic partner and the sole distributor of BioOne in the U.S.
The titles in BioOne are published primarily by scholarly societies, and most have been previously available only in print. As an innovative nonprofit collaboration among scientific societies, libraries, universities and the commercial sector, BioOne is providing an unprecedented level of online access to peer-reviewed research results and other scientific information. From the BioOne Web site, www.bioone.org/, you can view abstracts, find a list of titles and review the most viewed articles.
