In Washington, Julie Miller is the new dean of libraries at Eastern Washington University. Joyce Ogburn has been named associate director of library management at the University of Washington, and Harry Bruce has taken the post of dean of the University of Washington Information School. Pat Partovi was appointed director of the Spokane Public Library.
A long list of new library directors has been announced in Colorado: Jan Pratt at the Manitou Springs Public Library, Sarah Myers at Red Feather Lakes Community Library, Robb Heckel at Elbert County Library District and Liz Bishoff, special assistant to the dean of libraries and head of the Office of Sponsored Programs at the University of Colorado at Boulder. Also, Jean Heilig was appointed finance manager/special projects coordinator for the Colorado State Library and Jackie Powers director of public information for Jefferson County Public Library.
Lori Bonnerhas is the new director of the Weippe (Idaho) Public Library.
Davenport (Iowa) Public Library opened its new Fairmount Street branch in January. The new library, along with a second scheduled to be completed in 2008, replace the Annie Wittenmyer facility that closed in 2005. The new libraries will be state of the art.
Koelbel Library (Arapahoe Library District in Colorado), Scott Community College Library of the Eastern Iowa Community College District and Lewis D. Cannell Library, Clark College in Washington are among the 10 libraries selected to host "Put it in Writing @ your library" workshops with Woman's Day writers during National Library Week in April.
