New Databases for Medical and Academic Libraries

By Brandie Baumann
BCR is offering four new database products that offer an array of reference resources designed to educate, inform and perhaps even get you published.

  • PapersInvited — A unique database that addresses the cliché "Publish or Perish" by presenting an exhaustive listing of calls for papers issued by professional bodies, journal editors and other conference organizers in numerous disciplines and throughout the world. Researchers use this service to discover publishing opportunities for their research papers. For a complete description of the database, see www.papersinvited.com/.
  • Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) — This database contains abstracts and indexes of current publications in the history of art, including scholarly journals, conferences, book, exhibition reviews and exhibition catalogs. The subscription period runs July 1-June 30, and if you sign up early, you will be able to access the database at no cost until the subscription starts. Go to www.csa.com/factsheets/bha-set-c.php for more information.

Set up your free trial and get access to these reference databases prior to the start of the subscription period, July 1-June 30. The initial discount is 10 percent; however, the discount increases as the number of subscribing libraries increases.

Big Discount on Select ProQuest Databases
The following two products recently were added to the extensive family of ProQuest databases, and BCR member libraries benefit from the 60 percent discount offered to libraries signing up before May 31.

  • Evidence Matters — A user-friendly search engine that helps medical practitioners choose the best therapy options for a specific patient with a confirmed diagnosis. For an in-depth description of all the features in this full-text database, go to www.proquest.com/products_pq/descriptions/evidence_matters.shtml.
  • Proquest Health Management — Designed to meet the needs of researchers studying the field of health administration. Combining full-text coverage for more than 550 key journals with more than 4,500 doctoral dissertations and theses, the database provides users with the highest quality content, much of which is not available elsewhere. For more information, go to www.proquest.com/products_pq/descriptions/pq_health_management.shtml.
