People on the Move

At the Nevada State Library and Archives, Daphne Arnaiz-DeLeon has been appointed the new division administrator, replacing State Archivist Guy Rocha, who was serving on an interim basis. Rocha stepped in when Sara Jones left the state librarian position at the end of January to become the new director of the Carson City Public Library. As the state librarian for a BCR member state, Arnaiz-DeLeon will serve on the BCR Board of Trustees. Arnaiz-DeLeon, who previously served as director of the Archives and Historical Services Division for the New Mexico State Records Center and Archives, is scheduled to start in July.

Eileen Simmons is the new director of the Everett Library, Washington. She is taking over after the retirement of longtime director Mark Nesse.

Dianne Varnon has been named associate director of programs and services at the Washoe County Library System in Reno, Nevada.

A number of moves have occurred at Montana State University Libraries. Tamara Miller, formerly associate dean, was appointed dean as of July 1, after Bruce Morton stepped down to take directorship of the schools' Honors Program. Brian Rossman is replacing Miller as associate dean.

Erica MacCreaigh has been appointed Senior Consultant with Institutional Library Services, at the Colorado State Library, Colorado Department of Education. She is responsible for coordinating and supervising library services and training library staff at nine Department of Corrections facilities across the state.

Dr. Gwen Alexander has been named the new dean of Emporia State University's School of Library and Information Management (SLIM). She comes to her new post from Wichita State University, where she served as associate dean of University Libraries.

Arlene Schmuland has been hired as head of Archives and Special Collections at the University of Alaska Anchorage/Alaska Pacific University Consortium Library. Kerri Canepa was named librarian/coordinator for the Alaska Library Network. Karen Keller was named municipal library director of the Anchorage Municipal Libraries. Nancy E. Clark was selected as the new Adult Services coordinator for the library system.
