Visit BCR at April Library Conferences

BCR water bottle Kansas — The Kansas Tri-Conference is being held at the Expo Center Exhibit Hall in Topeka, April 11-13. BCR's Lisa Holmberg, project coordinator, Innovations & Special Projects, is scheduled to present "Understanding How Google Works," on Friday, April 13, from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Please join her to discover the inner workings of Google and how it can help libraries and their staff become better information providers. BCR's Jay Ford, Marketing & Support associate, will be staffing the BCR exhibit booth (#233). Ford and Holmberg will be available to answer questions, suggest products and services that can help save time and money and introduce what's new at BCR these days. Don't forget to stop by to get a BCR water bottle.

Washington — The Three Rivers Convention Center in Kennewick is hosting the Washington Library Association conference, April l8-21. BCR's Jay Ford will be available in the BCR booth to meet Washington's librarians. Keep him busy...stop by to chat with him, get an update on BCR's activities and pick up a BCR water bottle!

Oregon — OLA members are meeting in Corvallis at the LeSells Stewart and Alumni Center on the beautiful Oregon State University campus. BCR's Regan Harper, manager, Training & OCLC Services, is presenting the "BCR Network Update" from 8:30-10 a.m., on Friday, April 20. Come hear how BCR can help libraries save money and do more with less. Harper also will be staffing the exhibit booth and would enjoy the opportunity to meet and talk with Oregon librarians one-on-one and personally give away a BCR water bottle.

Montana — The Red Lion Colonial Inn in Montana's state capitol, Helena, is the site of the Montana Library Association Annual Conference, April 25-28. Two new faces will be representing BCR at the conference — Jay Ford, Marketing & Support associate, and Shelly Drumm, emergent technology trainer. Drumm is presenting two programs:

  • Podcasting 101, Friday, April 27, 10:30-12 noon — Learn how to disseminate information about your library to the public using the latest technology.
  • Flickr for Libraries, Friday, April 27, 2-3 p.m. — Flickr can do many things. This session will give you ideas on how to use Flickr to promote your library and introduce two of the hottest topics in librarianship today - social software and folksonomies.

Ford will once again be staffing the BCR exhibit booth, and both Drumm and Ford look forward to meeting members of Montana's library community.
