Intellectual Property and Copyright Course

David N. Schachter Have you ever wondered just exactly what is the difference between a trademark, a copyright and a patent? On June 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, BCR will host a workshop - "Intellectual Property Primer and Copyright Law Update" - at which intellectual property attorney, David N. Schachter, will explain the critical differences between these various types of intellectual property. Schachter will provide a comprehensive update on copyright law as it relates to librarians and library science, the impact of recent changes in federal laws and the effects felt in the copyright practice from the rapid explosion of the Internet and technological capabilities for reproducing copyrighted material.

This special workshop, "Intellectual Property Primer and Copyright Law Update," will be presented at BCR's Aurora, Colorado, offices. The fee to attend is $50 for BCR members. To register, complete BCR's online registration form at www.bcr.org/training/workshops/register.html. Please watch BCR's Web site and BCReview for more details about this class in the future.

Schachter is a member of Sherman & Howard L.L.C., Colorado's oldest law firm, and has practiced intellectual property law for 26 years. He heads the law firm's Intellectual Property practice group and writes a monthly column on technology law for Denver Business Journal.
