From the President of the Board
Dear Colleagues:In my second year as president of the Board of Trustees, I am pleased to write that the range of services provided to librarians throughout the 12-state region by the Bibliographical Center for Research continues to expand. Libraries were able to select from new and enhanced OCLC services through Bibliographic Systems & Services (BS&S) while Internet & Database Services (IDS) increased the number of discounted, online, full-text collections including a new netLibrary electronic book collection. The professional staff is to be complemented, for the expanded suite of services is obviously appealing to librarians. In fact, even given the economic downturn within the region, more libraries than ever are contracting for services or subscribing to products through BCR. It is also the second year of the expanded state memberships. While the territory has increased dramatically along with the number of libraries served, there has been no increase in BCR staff. On behalf of the entire Board of Trustees, we commend the hardworking and dedicated staff for their continued efforts to serve your libraries and patrons. I would be remiss in not also commending you for your commitment to and use of BCR services. Thank you. Best wishes from the Board of Trustees,
