Update on NUCMC Records in OCLC

OCLC staff have restored approximately 16,500 National Union Catalog of Manuscript Collections (NUCMC) bibliographic records in WorldCat that had been replaced incorrectly in the recent OCLC reload of records from the Library of Congress. The loading process did not adequately protect records for which the WorldCat version was more recent and more complete than the record as distributed by LC. OCLC will now examine those records to determine the best way to process them while appropriately protecting enhancements already made to the OCLC versions of the records.

BCR/OCLC member libraries that wish to update the NUCMC records in WorldCat that represent their institution's collections may now resume updating those records.

OCLC apologizes for the difficulties and thanks all members for their patience while staff resolved the situation.
