Oxford African American Studies Center Updated
The editors of the Oxford African American studies Center Online have launched an update just in time to commemorate Black History Month and celebrate Frederick Douglass, one of the most influential black men of the 19th century. Resources included in the update will help you and your patrons understand the entirety of this man's impact on the lives of all Americans, even today.
In the update you will find:
- New articles — 28 of them — related to Frederick Douglass, along with a feature essay and photo essay
- Fifty new primary sources, including Shirley Chisolm's 1974 speech on the "Black Women in Contemporary America" and W. E. B. Du Bois's Crisis editorial in praise of black soldiers returning from France after World War I
- Two hundred never-before-published biographies from the forthcoming African American National Biography
- Eight new articles from the forthcoming Encyclopedia of African American History, 1896-Present
- One hundred new images
