Digitization Training Available

You are invited to attend three days of digitization training at the National Cowboy and Western Museum in Oklahoma City on March 21-23. Leigh Grinstead, projects coordinator for the Collaborative Digitization Program (CDP), is providing the special training. Grinstead will soon become part of BCR’s staff when the CDP merges into BCR April 1 and becomes CDP@BCR.

Librarians are welcome at the Digitization and Museums training. Sponsored by the American Association of State and Local History (AASLH), this workshop introduces librarians, archivists, curators and other staff from cultural heritage institutions to the range of issues associated with digitization of primary source materials. The training provides an overview of key issues such as selection of materials, physical preservation, considerations for digital imaging, metadata and the resources required for responsible sustainability of digital collections.

Agenda topics for the three days are:

  • Day 1 – Introduction to the issues involved in digital project management
  • Day 2 – Introduction to Digital Imaging
  • Day 3 – Introduction to Dublin Core Metadata

For more detailed information concerning the training, visit the AASLH Web site. To learn what classes Grinstead will be providing via CDP@BCR see BCR's CDP training Web pages.
