CONSER Standard Record Implemented June 1

At their annual meeting in early May, CONSER (the Cooperative Online Serials Cataloging program) operations representatives agreed to implement the CONSER standard record guidelines on June 1, with the understanding that probably not all institutions will be able to implement on exactly that date.

CONSER members will monitor the new practices throughout the coming year and make any recommendations for changes or adjustments as they believe necessary.

To learn about the new CONSER standard record, see the current versions of CONSER's guidelines for it and the related LCRIs (Library of Congress Rule Interpretations) available from the CONSER Web site at www.loc.gov/acq/conser/ (see the What's New section on the right).

Questions about the standard or its implementation should be addressed to Les Hawkins, CONSER coordinator at the Library of Congress (lhaw@loc.gov).
