FirstSearch Patron Comments Now Can Go Directly to Library

As part of the July 8 enhancement, the WorldCat Services Administrative Module now allows a library to set an e-mail address to receive all FirstSearch patron comments, previously sent to OCLC Customer Support.

This enhancement improves service to the library and the patron, since any patron Comments can now be sent directly to the library. Prior to the enhancement, when patron comments were sent to OCLC Customer Support patrons were told to contact their reference librarian. By adding the direct Reference e-mail, patrons can be provided access to library help directly.

To enable this feature, log in to the Administrative Module (http://firstsearch.oclc.org/admin) with the library's ILL authorization number. Go to the Authentication/Access tab and the General subtab Comments field (graphic above) and enter the e-mail address that is to receive all FirstSearch patron comments. Only comments that are self-identified as patron (not staff) questions are forwarded to this e-mail address. Click the Save Changes button.

For additional assistance with this feature or with the WorldCat Administrative Module, contact BCR's Bethany Levrault (blevraul@bcr.org) or Heather Clark. (hclark@bcr.org)
