The Institution Records feature allows access to search and display of Institution Records. Resource Sharing is still based on the library holdings symbols. Institution Records only appear in WorldCat, group catalogs, Ebooks and WorldCat Dissertations. It is an optional feature that the library's authorization administrator can make available to an authorization number in the WorldCat Services Administrative Module.

Institution Records provide additional copies of the WorldCat record, as they are cataloged by individual institutions, retaining each library's local data and notes. This information can be valuable to researchers, especially in reference to rare items. These local records can be presented as an additional source of information to display or to both display and search the data in these records.

The default option is to not display or search these records. Therefore, if you are interested in including this information to your service, please check out the additional information in the OCLC FirstSearch Institution Records Quick Reference document, and consider including this feature through the WorldCat Services Administrative Module.
