WorldCat Social Networking Enhanced

WorldCat.org's social networking features continue to be improved with several enhancements installed on July 8, among them improved list searching, better privacy for profiles and resolutions for several problems.

Look for the following enhancements:

  • Fully translated registration screens
  • Improved list searching as unique list names will be required of all new lists
  • Improved usability as search boxes will auto-focus the user's cursor
  • Full support for the most popular Web browsers, including saving lists as CSV files in those browsers
  • Inclusion of the time and date in the CSV export file to indicate when items were added to list
  • Enhanced privacy for private profiles
  • Improved language and messaging on e-mail and list sharing pages
  • Improved user flow for editing profiles by removing redundant pages from the process
  • Improved user flow for saving items from other user's list

Several problems were resolved, including:

  • Inconsistencies in display (look and feel) between Library items, Lists and Contacts tabs on Search pages
  • Handling of OSC/WorldCat e-mail addresses
  • Display problem that prevented lists of more than 150 items from printing or showing (Owners of lists of this size will not need to take action, as their lists will work as expected after the installation is complete.)
  • Several accessibility issues

System enhancements also resulted in improvements to performance and responsiveness of lists functions.
