OCLC Connexion Browser and Client Tutorials Updated
OCLC has updated tutorials for Connexion Browser and Connexion Client with new instruction on Metadata Extraction.
The Metadata Extraction functionality allows users to create bibliographic records by extracting metadata from electronic resources. To save the time and effort of transcribing bibliographic data to create records for electronic resources, the client automatically extracts metadata and inserts the data into a workform to produce a preliminary record to edit and complete.
Anyone not familiar with the Metadata Extraction functionality may want to review the appropriate tutorial and/or try extracting data from a source file for a specific URL on the Web or from a locally stored file to see how this functionality can save time and effort in transcribing data. Files types supported are Web pages (*.html or *.htm file), Word documents (*.doc file), Adobe PDF documents (*.pdf file) and MP3 files (*.mp3).
