OverDrive Offers Free Training Sessions for Subscribers

October is OverDrive's Digital Library Staff Training Month for all subscribers. Every Wednesday and Thursday during October free training classes are scheduled — but you need to register at www.overdrive.com/products/dlr/training/.

The program is for all staff, especially those who work with the public, providing collection development and technical support. Staff may attend any or all courses, including "Using Your OverDrive Digital Library 101," "Best Practices to Increase Download Circulation," "Collection Update: What's New in the OverDrive Digital Catalog" and "Real-Time Reports: Patron Statistics and Download Trends."

The hour-long sessions will be held at 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. (Eastern time). The courses will be conducted online by OverDrive expert trainers using ReadyTalk, a Web conferencing service with a toll-free, dial-in number.

OverDrive is offering the following Staff Participation awards:

  • Certificate of Achievement
  • An MP3 raffle at each session
  • OverDrive Digital Library Staff Training contest

Libraries with the most staff participation in the training during October will be awarded prizes. For the winner in each category (small library, mid-size library and large library), prizes will include a $1,000-$1,500 collection credit and sponsorship of an ad in their local newspaper.
