Variety of Topics Highlight Upcoming Conference Activities

BCR staff are involved in presenting and exhibiting at a potpourri of library-related conferences and meetings through the end of the month. Whether you are in the northwest, midwest or close by in Colorado, there is something for everyone.

Northwest Interlibrary Loan and Resource Sharing Conference — Portland, Oregon, is the venue for the sixth Annual NW ILL and Resource Sharing Conference, September 20-21. Heather Clark, BCR's resident ILL and resource expert, will staff BCR's exhibit booth and present a short demo session, "BCR and Resource Sharing: Fare to Fuel Your Productivity." Attendees will have an opportunity to win a BCR Training Credit Voucher as well as one of the other gifts provided as part of BCR's cosponsorship of the prize drawing event.

Marmot Users Group Meeting — Gillian Harrison, BCR manager of Marketing & Support, will be in Grand Junction (Colorado) on September 20, to participate in the Marmot Users Group meeting, Two Rivers Convention Center. Don't miss Harrison's General Session presentation, "In the Center Ring! BCR - The Balancing Act."

NISO Electronic Resource Management Forum — Join other Colorado librarians on September 24-25, at the Magnolia Hotel, Denver (Colorado). Presentations designed to answer pressing questions about the impact of ERMs on internal management and workflow will come from all major sectors of the NISO community.

ARSL — Set for September 26-29, in Columbus, Ohio, the Association of Rural and Small Libraries annual conference is expected to draw participants from more than 200 rural and small libraries from across the United States. BCR's executive director, Brenda Bailey-Hainer, and Regan Harper, manager, Training & OCLC Services, will be staffing the BCR exhibit booth. Bailey-Hainer and Harper are looking forward to the opportunity to meet a new group of librarians at yet another first-time conference venue for BCR.

Colorado Database Fair — Visit BCR staff at "Surfing Beyond Search Engines," Denver Public Library, September 27-28. Heather Clark, BCR member services librarian, is presenting "Technology X-Factor: Technologies that Make Using Databases Easier," September 27, 2:30-3:45 p.m. She will be exploring search options, including Federated Searching, open access, link resolution, Open WorldCat, Google Scholar and more. Please stop by the BCR booth and learn about the products and services BCR has to offer libraries in the region.
