WorldCat Collection Analysis: Enhancements and Free Training Session

OCLC has installed two enhancements to WorldCat Collection Analysis (WCA) and scheduled a free training session to showcase recent enhancements made to the service.

The two new enhancements are:

  • Column Graphing — You can now graph your analysis results by column (in addition to graphing by row). This makes it easier to graph data across multiple criteria (e.g. holdings in a publication date range by subject or holdings by subject in a particular format, etc.). To see a visual representation of your analysis results, simply click on the graph icon above the column data you would like to graph.
  • Limiting by Call Number — You can now limit your analysis by LC, Dewey or NLM call number. This allows you to quickly drill down to the most granular level of the Conspectus that contains the call number you are interested in. No matter what analysis you are running (My Library, WorldCat Comparison, ILL Analysis, Peer comparison, etc.), simply click on the Limit Analysis button and enter the call number you wish to limit by. You may also continue to drill down to the call number of interest manually.

For more information on WorldCat Collection Analysis, contact Bethany Levrault at BCR (blevraul@bcr.org).

Anyone interested in learning more about the new features added to WCA, are invited to take part in a free, live Web session on Tuesday, September 18, from 2:30-3:30 pm EDT (12:30 pm Mountain Time).

Among the recent enhancements to be discussed:

  • Applying elements of FRBR to your WorldCat Comparison
  • The new Limit by Call Number feature
  • New predefined groups available for comparison
  • Increased number of languages available to limit an analysis
  • More granular Conspectus breakout for Government Documents
  • Increased number of records that can be exported in a batch
  • Larger peer comparison groups

To register for the webinar, go to www3.oclc.org/app/request/bin/request.asp?specialCode=WCASep07 and fill out the online form.
