WorldCat Resource Sharing: Enhancements and Fixes

On Sunday, October 7, OCLC installed three enhancements and three fixes to WorldCat Resource Sharing.

The enhancements include the following:

  • New reason for "No" — Users will find a new reason for "No" as a response to borrowers available from the drop-down menu. "Not licensed to fill" should be used to better define unfilled requests that the library may own, but cannot fill due to contractual obligations (such as for electronic resources).
  • Changes in how "Not found as cited" is handled — Requests that are marked "Not found as cited" will be automatically rerouted back to the requesting library as "Unfilled." By not routing the request to additional lenders in the lender string, turnaround time for incorrectly cited requests should be reduced.
  • Shipping labels available for individual requests — It is now possible to print shipping labels while individual requests are processed as well as through batch functionality by selecting the "Print Shipping Labels" checkbox while updating the request. After updating the request, click "Printing" in the menu bar to see the Mailing Labels print button.

Three fixes have also been installed:

  • The ability to view 20, 50, 75 or 99 requests in a given category is now persistent when users move from category to category.
  • Users are now able to search the archive with the closed date as their search guide.
  • When a value was present in both the "Ship To" field and in the "Electronic Delivery" field in the ILL request form, some users were not able to update these requests. This was due to an error in coding and has been corrected.

Additional information can be accessed on OCLC's WorldCat Resource Sharing Web page.
