Britannica Online Features Educational Resources

Subscribers through BCR to Encyclopaedia Britannica Online have numerous resources to promote learning in the classroom, public library and academic environment. Britannica's Compare Countries and Guide to Nobel Prizes features are just two tools developed by Britannica to enhance the educational experience.

Britannica's Compare Countries
The Britannica Compare Countries feature makes it easy to compare and contrast different countries. Compare the history, people and land for any two countries in the world. A user simply selects two countries, clicks GO, and maps, flags, statistics, multimedia and links to articles, videos and Web sites will appear side-by-side.

Britannica's Compare Countries feature is a great tool for both elementary and secondary geography and world studies students, as well as for research projects and reports.

Explore the Nobel Prizes with Britannica
Encyclopaedia Britannica's Guide to the Nobel Prizes features entries on every individual and institution that has been awarded the honor since the program's inception in 1901. Students learn about Alfred Nobel the man, his will that established the award and the prizes named for him. It details the selection process and the various prize-awarding bodies and provides tables that list the recipients alphabetically, by year and by prize category.

In addition, Encyclopaedia Britannica features the work of Nobel Prize winners. More than 100 Nobelists have contributed writings to Britannica, and some of the contributions of these luminaries are reproduced in this educational resource.

BCR members, including schools (K-12), public libraries and academic institutions, can purchase the Britannica Online database at a discount. For subscription and pricing information, contact BCR's Chris Cook (ccook@bcr.org).
