Need Help with Graphic Novel Collection Development?
BCR is now offering H.W. Wilson's Graphic Novels Core Collection: A Selection Guide database to help librarians choose the most current and recommended graphic novels from a selection of approximately 2,000 titles.
The newest release of this collection helps librarians select age-appropriate works in this increasingly popular graphic novel genre. The database provides ratings for materials as well as "...descriptive and evaluative annotations .... and offers insight into both quality and content..." for librarians. Automatic links to cover art are provided so librarians can get a feel for the work. Content searches can be limited by fiction, nonfiction and biography to reflect the growing diversity available in this relatively new literary form.
New entries are added throughout the subscription year, and an automated "What's New" query gives users the ability to find resources that have been added to the database recently. As new topics are added, users can configure the database to receive daily, weekly or monthly alerts by e-mail.
Free 30-day trials are available. For more information, contact BCR's Maura Dunn (mdunn@bcr.org).
