New Online Video Presentations Explore Benefits of OCLC Language Sets
Two new online video presentations about OCLC Language Sets and their advantages are now available for viewing. Each informational video is approximately 10 minutes in length and designed to help librarians better serve their non-English language speaking communities.
The presentations are:
Lynn Jacobson, library supervisor at Jacksonville Public Library, shares the process her library followed to pioneer a collection of non-English materials for its diverse community of users.
Panelists from a recent Language Sets event share their ideas and challenges on how they are meeting the needs of their diverse communities.
Registration is free. Sign up at www3.oclc.org/app/request/bin/request.asp?specialCode=LangSetsDiverseCommunities2007.
OCLC Language Sets are the fast way to build multilingual collections, making it easy and affordable to serve culturally diverse communities. In the package of preselected sets, everything required is available to begin, maintain or expand a non-English language collection of books and DVDs. Or with custom collections, library staff can inform OCLC of the type of materials they want to receive (fiction, nonfiction, juvenile, DVDs, etc.). Regardless of the option selected, a library receives quality MARC records for each title, the library's symbol is added to WorldCat and free cataloging and shipping are provided.
