Emerald Reaches Milestones
Emerald is commemorating its 40th anniversary this year and recently celebrated the 50 millionth full-text article download since it first started collecting COUNTER-compliant statistics. As one of the first publishers to gain COUNTER status, Emerald users early-on acquired the ability to measure the usage of their online information products and services in a more consistent way.
BCR member libraries now have access to five Emerald products at a discount. These include:
- Emerald Management Xtra — Designed for business schools and management departments, the database offers the largest, most comprehensive collection of peer-reviewed management journals and online support for librarians, students, faculty researchers and deans.
- Emerald Management Xtra College — Developed specifically for colleges, the database integrates access to journals, reviews and support resources, addressing the ideas, problems and headaches encountered in the academic community.
- Emerald Management First — An online library that provides busy managers with the latest research from business schools and universities across the globe, presented in a concise, accessible format.
- Emerald for Managers — An online library of management information designed to help managers, business students and researchers perform better by providing access to the latest thinking on management theory and practice; up-to-date, accessible and available in a format to suit all users.
- Emerald Alumni — Emerald Management Xtra content available to alumni of a college/university that subscribes to Emerald Management Xtra.
A subscription to Emerald gives users access to Emerald's powerful content delivery platform, Insight, which can handle 150,000 article downloads per day, without impacting the quality of service. In addition, users will soon have access to Emerald Backfiles, a completely digitized archive of journals back to the 1800s, that is being unveiled at the ALA Midwinter Conference. Visit the Emerald booth (#1938) at 3 p.m. on January 13 to see more.
Subscribe now and get access to this versatile resource. Link to a free demo from the BCR Emerald Web page and then talk to BCR's Chris Cook (ccook@bcr.org) about starting a subscription.
