Marcadia Cataloging Service Relaunched
As part of the recent merger with RLG, OCLC and Backstage Library Works have relaunched the Marcadia Cataloging service, and they will now supply records from OCLC WorldCat. Previously, the service provided records from the RLG Union Catalog.
The Marcadia automated cataloging service uses copies of brief records transmitted via FTP to search OCLC WorldCat using a customized profile specifically created for a library. Libraries usually receive files of full MARC records for these items in 72 hours or less. The service does not include setting holdings in WorldCat for the items.
Backstage Library Works staff and OCLC staff will be available at ALA Midwinter on Monday, January 14, 1:30-3:00 p.m., to discuss the relaunch of the Marcadia Cataloging service.
For information about Marcadia, visit the Marcadia Web site. Marcadia is part of the OCLC's Vendor-Prompted Cataloging services.
