Registration Open for ALA Preconference on Rethinking Resource Sharing
Advance registration is still open for the ALA RUSA STARS 2008 preconference, "Throw Off Your Policies and Expose Your Resources: Rethinking Resource Sharing," Friday, June 27, in Anaheim, CA. Resource sharing is changing in innovative and exciting ways, and this is your chance to learn all about what the future holds.
This day is designed to give librarians an opportunity to develop creative responses to the changing expectations of library users and ideas about ways to improve service to patrons. Stephen Abram, guru for library innovation, will start the day with an interactive presentation about resource sharing.
Other scheduled programs and activities will help library administrators and ILL librarians interested in the future of library resource sharing discover innovative ways to help librarians get people what they need, when and where they need it. These include a plug-in that helps users find materials in libraries or on the Internet, a manifesto that sets the stage for new lending policies, scan-on-demand services and the promise of home delivery.
Visit the RUSA STARS website for more information, including details on registration, the preconference schedule and a list of presenters.
BCR is an on-going sponsor of the Rethinking Resource Sharing Initiative, and BCR President and CEO Brenda Bailey-Hainer serves as the Chair of the Initiative's Steering Committee.
