College of DuPage Teleconference Examines Shrinking Library Budgets

Mark your calendar for the next College of DuPage teleconference, “Making the Best of a Shrinking Budget: Creative Practices in a New Economy," January 29, noon-1:30 p.m. ET.

Join Leslie Burger, Director of the Princeton (NJ) Public Library and founder of Library Development Solutions, Alice Calabrese-Berry, Executive Director of Metropolitan (Chicago) Library System and Mary Case, Director of Libraries at the University of Illinois at Chicago, for a discussion of the best ways to deal with these difficult budget trends.  What principles should guide librarians in saving money?  How can we sustain our core services?  Panelists will share their knowledge and experience and explore creative library practices in this new economy.

The state library agencies of Idaho, Iowa, Montana, Nevada, Oregon and Wyoming, along with the Utah Academic Library Consortium, together have funded a group license with the College of DuPage, negotiated by BCR on their behalf, providing access to this year's series of teleconferences, Library Futures: Staying Ahead of the Curve 2010.

Details for each teleconference are available on the BCR website, including registration information, downlink/webcast viewing sites in each state, broadcast times for your area, licensing terms, equipment needed and access to College of DuPage resources.
