Teaching Technology to the Public

Description
Many people become librarians because of a love of books and reading or a strong commitment to public service - not because they love getting up in front of groups and teaching. Yet many of us find ourselves thrust onto the teaching stage with some regularity, either as instructional academic librarians or as public librarians involved in educational programming.

This three-hour workshop uses a little lecture and a lot of activities to help explore some pedagogical fundamentals and to help librarians improve their teaching skills. While the class examples focus on teaching technology, the lessons can be applied to almost any teaching scenario. What we'll cover:

Note: This course is designed for group participation. Attendees will benefit most if there are at least 10 registrants in the class. Groups will receive a $10.00 discount on each registration of two or more.

Who Should Attend
Librarians who are just starting to train others and feel they need some training themselves, as well as librarians who have been training for some time and are interested in learning more and sharing their experiences.
